Valdres offers you a hiking paradise and an exciting cultural heritage. In the region you will find high mountains, green valleys, clear waters and warm communities waiting for your visit. Go on fishing and canoeing tours or discover the beautiful nature by bike. The most famous cycle route, Mjölkevegen, runs through the cultural landscape of Stølsvidda, where you can visit summer farms and sample the local cuisine. The entire region is rich in history. Six of Norway's 24 preserved stave churches are located in Valdres. Two of them are Reinli Stave Church and Hedalen Stave Church, which was built in the Viking Age almost 1,000 years ago! The Valdres Folkemuseum is one of Norway's largest open-air museums. The museum is located in Fagernes, the largest town in Valdres, with a good selection of stores and restaurants. In winter, the area offers a breathtaking snowy landscape for skiing.
